Upgrading your license
Air brake courses, MELT and class 3 available
We offer the full MELT Program, Class 1 Truck Driver Training, consisting of theory, in-yard and one-on-one in-truck driving instruction.
We also provide Class 3 Truck Driver Training with a minimum of 20 hours of one-on-one instruction.
The first step in the process is to obtain the appropriate learners license from ICBC.
Our air brake course is 7 hours of air brake theory plus 4 hours of practical if certification is also required. Certification is not required if you are planning to upgrade to a class 3 license within 1 year. Pricing in Oliver is $200.00 non certified, $300 certified. Pricing in Dawson Creek is $300 non certified, $400 certified. We keep our class size small for more focused instruction. The advantage of being certified directly is that, the air brake endorsement can be put directly onto a class 5 license, as soon as you pass the written test after the course, at ICBC. When you enquire please state your preferred location for training.
You can take our online air brake course from the comfort of your own home with a small group (temporarily unavailable). Online instruction is a becoming a popular option in today's environment and covers the identical material as a 7 hour classroom setting, without being exposed to strangers in a large group. We provide instruction for our online air brake classes using Google Meet.
In class air brake course are currently available in Dawson Creek and Oliver. For even more personalized instruction, we also offer one-on-one courses (inquire about pricing).

Interested in getting an air brake certification?
Certified air brake course
The certified 11 hour air brake course will require one on one or in groups of 5 on truck practical training. The practical training and assessment will be scheduled after the theory course has been completed if needed.
The certified air brake course is designed for adding to your class 5/7 if you are not planning to upgrade your license within one year.
The certified course is also available at your location for groups.
All trainees must successfully pass the written test at ICBC after both types of courses.

Kevin Black
Owner Operator/ Instructor
Kevin Black has 34 years experience in instructing air brake courses and truck driver training.
He began his career in the truck driver training industry at Northern Lights College in Dawson Creek in August of 1990.
For the past 17 years he has been training new class 1 and 3 drivers privately with his own company, BC Transport Training & Consulting.
